Overview
Prestressed concrete steel strand is a high-strength strand product used in pre-tensioned and post-tensioned concrete members. The RFQ should identify ASTM A416/A416M or GB/T 5224, including the edition required by the project, then state strand type, nominal diameter, tensile-strength class, relaxation class, coil mass, internal diameter, pay-off method, joints, quantity, and test-document scope. ASTM and GB designations should not be presented as automatic dual certification. PC strand is not lifting wire rope, so wire-rope core and lay fields do not apply. Tendon design, anchorage selection, stressing procedures, safety factors, and acceptance criteria remain with the project engineer. Coated, indented, or other special strand types require a separate governing specification and technical review. Packing and handling requirements should match coil mass, pay-off arrangement, and site practice.
Product scope
- PC strand is classified for prestressed concrete, not lifting and rigging.
- Wire-rope core and lay fields are excluded from the product definition.
- Standard, diameter, tensile-strength class, and relaxation class form the technical order basis.
