Overview
Galvanized steel wire rope combines a wire-rope construction with a zinc-coated wire surface. The galvanized finish does not by itself establish suitability for lifting, traction, control cable, structural, or marine service. Selection starts with the governing product and equipment standard, full rope construction, nominal diameter, core, lay type and direction, tensile grade, minimum breaking-force basis, lubrication, ordered length, and end use. Buyers should also state terminations, sheave and drum context where relevant, inspection or test documents, reel or coil data, quantity, storage exposure, and destination. A 7x7 construction, fibre core, and independent wire-rope core have different behavior and should not be grouped under one generic value. Safety factors and retirement criteria remain with the applicable equipment maker or project engineer.
